1st October!!

 -by Shuchita Shukla

1st October- International Day of the Older Persons

What is life if you don’t look after the elderly with care? Have you ever thought of how dull our childhood would have been without grandparents? The urge to always be surrounded by that love never ends. Such is its beauty.

However, there are often instances where we hear about children ill-treating their elderly parents and grandparents. Yes, there are people with black hearts who just shove the elderly of their house to one corner and don’t even sit with them for 5 minutes. Just a simple question to such people- everyone gets old and so will you, one day; so how would you feel if the children of your house won’t even speak to you, shout out at you when you want to cry, or simply shut doors on your face? Think about it once. Scary, isn’t it?

But if you are of that school of thought that believes, " No, no, my children love me, they won’t do it to me,” then sorry to burst your bubble, but the law of Karma spares no one. All the harshness you put on older people today will come back to you in twice the amount and in ways you can’t even think of.

These older people have worked so hard their whole lives to see you smile. Be grateful. Be kind. Sit with them. Talk to them.

There are so many hardships older people already face at this age physically, please don’t add mental stress to it. Rather, try and help them with their medical conditions, make them feel happier.

Trust me, nothing in this world would make you feel more content than being surrounded by the love the older people give to you!!
